Row, row, row your boat, and let the kids take turns when your arms get tired. Renting a
Central Park rowboat gives you a great excuse to explore the marshy areas of the park, keeping an eye open for turtles, frogs, ducks and swans. Not recommended for small, or extra-bouncy, children. You ARE issued life jackets, but one look at the murky water and you'll hope not to have to use them.
The boats carry up to five, rowing is your job (and the kids will be thrilled when, because you can't see where you're going, you end up in an inadvertant game of
bumper boats), and wear clothes that can get wet, because they will!
Gondola rides for up to six people are available during the summer from 5pm-9pm, Mon-Fri, and 2pm-9pm, Sat/Sun, at a fee of $30 per half hour. Call 212.517.2233 to reserve.
