The winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find the best day camp in Nashville, Cheekwood was originally a family estate. The 55-acre site still blooms with the original Cheek gardens designed by Bryant Fleming. The area includes pools, fountains, statuary, extensive boxwood plantings, and breathtaking views of the rolling Tennessee hills.
The Museum of Art, in the house proper, offers four temporary exhibits annually.
Interactive exhibits in the Frist Learning Center provide visitors with new ways to look at art and gardens. Around the Frist Learning Center's courtyard, art galleries display changing exhibits of contemporary art from Cheekwood's own collection, works by local and regional artists, and video installation art. Cheekwood also offers classes and workshops year-round for all ages in the Learning Center. Tuesdays for Tots and Saturday AM offer fun activities for families and children every Tuesday and Saturday morning from 10am-12n.
The garden also hosts a summer camp program for children.
Family membership is $75/year.
