Childcare Resource Service provides free referrals to over 6000 state licensed child care centers and family day care homes. Services provided for all areas of San Diego County for children from birth to 4 years, including those with special needs. Specify the hours you need care and the location you prefer: near home or near work. The referral lines are open weekdays, but you can leave a message 24 hours a day and your call will be returned during the next business day. Sponsored by the YMCA, this service also administers the Alternate Payment Program (AP) with the California Department of Education to offer child care subsidies to parents who are low income and have a need for child care; and provides respite care for children with disabilities for eligible families.
