It's hard to miss the Children's Museum - an enormous whale statue (it's a a life-sized replica of a sperm whale), named Conny, sits right in front! Permanent exhibits include Critter Crossing (a toddler play area), the Idea Zone, and Turtle Town, where visitors can meet the museum's resident turtles, try on a turtle shell, and read books about turtles. The UTC Wildlife Sanctuary is home to a changing roster of animals. Live animal presentations are offered frequently, to educate kids (and their adult companions) on topics like "why alligators don't make good pets." The Travelers Science Dome is a digital planetarium that provides space-themed shows throughout the day. The Children's Museum also offers preschool programs for children ages three to five. Check the website for details. Birthday party packages are available for children ages two to ten. Parties can be held on Saturdays and Sundays; fees range from $180 to $250. Museum staff can also provide a 45-minute animal demonstration, with up to three creatures, at the location of your choice. Call for more information. School vacation and summer science camps are open to kids in grades 1 to 5. Family membership packages start at $65.
