About Children's Museum & Theatre of Maine
Located in the Arts District of downtown Portland, the Children's Museum of Maine offers interactive exhibits and activities for children and families. Our Town features a lobster boat, an interactive supermarket, a vet clinic, a fire truck, a farm, a soft gated play-and-learn area for toddlers, a car repair shop, and a large gallery for rotating exhibits.
On the Explore Floor, interactive science exhibits depict the natural resources of the State of Maine. Exhibits feature a Ranger Station, climbing wall, miniature planetarium, tide pool touch tank and lumber mill.
The newest exhibit, We Are Maine, celebrates the diverse global heritage of the Maine community.
The museum offers daily programming with emphasis on the arts, science, and multicultural topics. And don't miss the Camera Obscura, which delivers unbelievable panoramic views of the City of Portland and Casco Bay. During the warm months, the museum's outdoor Shipyard is a great place to have lunch while sailing a pirate ship into port.
Kids can also take advantage of children's theater classes; visit the website for details.
