It's hard to believe that the
Chula Vista Nature Center lies just seven miles south of bustling downtown San Diego. Located in the 300-plus-acre Sweetwater Marsh National Wildlife Refuge, this beautiful facility seems miles away from the rest of San Diego.
At this
living museum, children can learn about the ecological zones unique to California's coastal wetlands and view many indigenous animals. The museum's most popular attraction is the interactive tidepool exhibit, where
kids can pet sharks and bat rays - just like at
Sea World - but for a fraction of the cost! Inside, children take a virtual tour of the marsh, then gander outside through borrowed binoculars at the real thing.
The Center offers
Make It, Take It workshops on weekends at 1pm.
Birthday Party packages are also available.
