Once a separate city when it was developed in the late 1800's, the
City of Clayton is today a thriving part of St. Louis's metropolitan area.
Due west of downtown St. Louis and
Forest Park, Clayton is a paradise for foodies, shoppers, and art enthusiasts: Besides being the seat of St. Louis County government, the city is full of well-known
restaurants, boutiques, and art galleries. The city is also a family-oriented - and very green - district: 81 percent of Clayton's land is dedicated to residential or park use.
