Classic Tales 'n Tunes is an award-winning local educational organization that offers high quality programming for young children and their parents, caregivers and teachers. Four different programs are provided for young children accompanied by an adult through local community centers: Happy Hands (birth through 17 months), Classic Tales 'n Tunes (18 months through 4 years old), Family Circle (birth through 5 years old) and Hop 'n Bop (18 months through 4 years old). Each program includes a variety of activities: story reading, music making, puppetry and exploring gross motor equipment. Spanish and American Sign Language are blended into the curricula to make the classes as inclusive as possible.

Classic Tales 'n Tunes also offers birthday parties, special events programs for libraries and other organizations, and books of songs and rhymes for children in English, Spanish, and American Sign Language. Expert piano, voice, flute and Spanish training is offered in private lessons to children and adults in your home.

For child care providers and preschool teachers, Classic Tales 'n Tunes provides educator workshops focusing on early literacy, communications, American Sign Language, classroom management, and learning through the expressive arts. Trainings are offered at your site in the DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas, and they qualify for Core of Knowledge credit in the state of Maryland.

My daughter participated in Ms. Katz' class for over a year and loved it. The program offers a series of activities (songs, book readings, songs with instruments, free play, parachute, etc.) that are both fun and educational. In addition to English and Spanish, the kids learn sign language as well as social skills such as taking turns. The theme of the class changes every two weeks, so there is enough repetition but also something new to anticipate. Great class! I highly recommend it!

My younger daughter took Tales 'n Tunes for a year, and it was by far the best and most fun learning experience of her toddlerhood. It was exceptional: a truly engaging, stimulating, and enjoyable class. Even though she is too old for the class now and hasn't taken it for six months, she still asks me when she can go again. My older daughter never had the opportunity, and I feel she really missed out! I so recommend this program; don't let the opportunity pass to take this class.

I had my son, and now my daughter, in the T'n'T classes starting when they were 2 and until my son turned 4 years old. It is one of the best programs out there and I have tried many. It has music, books, puppets, instruments, play time, singing, Spanish and sign language; you name it and they do it. Yet it is gentle on kids, inspiring them and developing a natural curiosity and love for learning. Ms. Katz is a favorite teacher for both my kids and they are eagerly await Thursdays when they go for classes. I would wholeheartedly recommend the program to everybody. Come and join us!

Ms. Katz is a wonderful teacher who has set up a FANTASTIC program for children. I took my two sons when they were 2 and we adored the activities in the class. It's the perfect combination of being with their parent and being with other kids their own age. They learned to sit and listen to a story, they were exposed to Spanish for the first time and they got to jump and play - don't even get me started on the parachute! I now have a new baby girl and I can't wait until she's old enough to join the fun!

Ms. Katz really cares about the kids, and it shows! Every aspect of the class reflects her understanding of children in this age group and her commitment to providing a warm, age-appropriate learning experience. An Arlington parent who is an expert on local offerings for kids recommended Classic Tales 'n Tunes to me in 2004, and my son and I both loved it. We took several consecutive sessions, until my son started attending preschool every morning. Now I am looking forward to taking Classic Tales 'n Tunes with my infant daughter when she is old enough to go!

Our daughter (almost 3) LOVES this class! It has it all- music, story telling, physical activity, etc. Ms. Katz is an amazing teacher and has a way of bringing out the best in each child. I stood in line for over an hour to register for this class in Jan. 06. It was worth it! We've attended classes since 2005.

Tales 'n Tunes is one of the best classes we've taken. Keeping a toddler excited and engaged in a learning environment for 45-60 minutes is a challenge and this class does it wonderfully with songs, stories (in english and spanish), puppets, finger play (and sign language), dance, musical instruments, excercise and free play in a fun, loving and safe environment.
