Using skilled living history interpreters and other exhibit methods, the
Clear Creek History Park provides visitors with diverse hands-on experiences designed to enable the public to see and use restored structures and period replicas which illustrate the lives of
late 19th century Golden-area residents.
Visitors can stroll the park's creekside setting, which re-creates the
look and feel of a late 1800s mountain ranch complete with gardens, a working blacksmith shop, schoolhouse and chicken coop (chickens included). On select days throughout the year, buildings are open for paid tours, demos, programs, and events, all of which feature period re-enactors in costumes.
The park offers unique week-long
summer camps for kids ages six-10 which introduce kids to the excitement and adventure of pioneer life. Kids get to play old-fashioned games, cook a pie on the woodstove, craft toys, mine for gold, and attend a one-room schoolhouse, among other nifty activities.
The park is next to the
Astor House Museum.
