about Cleveland Cavaliers:

The Cleveland Cavaliers play NBA ball at Quicken Loans Arena, generally referred to as "the Q."

The amazingly talented, hometown hero that is LeBron James (he went straight from his high school graduation in Akron to center stage - er, center court - with the Cavs) is a huge draw, and the team is using his popularity to hook young spectators on the sport, and the team.

In other words, fans can expect kid-friendly activities at every home game. Before the game, kids can take advantage of rah-rah inducing face painting, and several times during each game, the Scream Team takes to the floor to perform a wacky break-dancing, head-spinning routine. (Agile kids may mimic, but we warn parents: please, don't try that at home!)

Children under the age of two do not require a ticket for games (and most other events at the arena) however, a child without a ticket may not occupy a seat, and must remain on a ticket holder's lap.

Security being what it is, guests at the Q should know that prohibited items include video and audio recording devices, laser pointers and weapons, backpacks, large bags, sealed packages of any kind (including gifts for performers), bottles, cans, coolers, and all outside food and beverages. Exceptions are made for medical reasons, baby food, and reasonable children's snacks (including crackers, raisins, and juice boxes). Purses and diaper bags are permitted, but subject to inspection by security personnel - same goes for binoculars and cell phones.

Camps ($235-$365) are available for boys and girls ages seven to 17, with both day and overnight programs offered. Members of the Cavaliers participate in the camps, with the goal of teaching the fundamentals of the game in a fun, exciting, and Cavaliers-themed environment. Campers get lots of take-home items, too, including tickets to a game, a camp t-shirt, basketball, and headband, and a basketball skills packet. Call the National Basketball Academy at 216.378.0932 or visit www.thebasketballacademy.com for more information.
