Each of the gardens on the 50-acre city-owned site along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard represents a different nationality group.
Walking and bike paths connect the gardens, and the space is a good place to breathe fresh air and absorb lush and natural scenery within sight of the downtown skyline.
A separate but integral entity, Rockefeller Park Gardens and Greenhouse sits on the north end of the Cultural Gardens. The Greenhouse features tropical plants, ferns, cactus, orchids and seasonal floral displays. It is open daily, including holidays, and admission and parking is free.
Inside, the Betty Ott Talking Garden for the Blind offers tape-recorded information, adding audibles to the experience.
Volunteers are needed for various events and projects, and a few opportunities for teens and families are available throughout the year. To inquire about volunteer programs, ask for the office manager at 216.664.3103.
