about Coastal Camp at Headlands Institute:

Coastal Camp at Headlands Institute combines marine and coastal ecology themes with hands-on educational activities and games, providing opportunities for discovery in the great outdoors. As leaders in environmental education, Headlands Institute offers kids a fun and educational alternative to the average summer camp.

Activities revolve around marine animal life, birds and ocean exploration, and survival skills and include creating eco-art, hawk banding demonstrations, tidepooling, hiking, and learning the ancient art of Gyotaku (fish printing).

getting there:

Driving north on Hwy.101 from San Francisco: Drive across the Golden Gate Bridge. Take the Alexander Avenue exit, the second exit after the bridge. Make first left, approximately 1/10 of a mile from highway exit ramp- this is Bunker Road Drive through tunnel. Pass through a housing area and horse stables. Veer to the right toward the beach at the first fork. Continue across bridge over lagoon. Go forward up and then down the hill toward the beach on Mitchell Road. At the sign for Headlands Institute, turn right into parking lot.
