We attended the story hour this morning and were a little disappointed. The concept is good and I’m sure the meaning was well intentioned as well, but it was chaos. The average age of the five children was 3 years old. Having a floor full of craft supplies, scissors, and glue at their reach caused for chaos. Trying to make crafts in the same space where you now want children to sit and listen to your story (and react) is extremely difficult on them. The other thing that was so disturbing was the fact that there were grown adults in the room talking loudly. The children could not possibly focus on the stories with so many distraction. My daughter and her two friends that were there this morning sit for a story hour every day (twice a day) at their school. They love this time of day and they just couldn’t handle the set up for this particular story time. I would love to see this activity continue at the museum, but would suggest they revisit how it is structured.
