Copper Basin YMCA2510

One of the complaints I have is that the drop in fees are outrageous compared to other facilities.I am an infrequernt out of state visitor and both of my rec centers in Durango Colorado are $4 per visit with punch passes available.And they are both state of the art.This YMCA is $10 per day because they are the only game in town.I thought the YMCA was supposed to HELP the community and make it affordable for everyone.

I was looking into a class for one of my kids to attend here and upon reading these reviews, I will go elsewhere. Thank you for posting those inputs so I won't waste my time there!

We have lived in Copper Basin for over two years now and every time my son, now 17, goes to use the pool the staff gives him a hard time. They tell him they "will let him in this time, but he has to sign in as a guest" or some other stupid line trying to make him feel like he is not entitled to use the pool. I am going to contact Copper Basin HOA (futile, I know) and suggest that they build a community pool that will be accessable to all so that we don't have to deal with the YMCA. I don't swim anymore just because I hate going there. I wish I would have bought a house in Johnson Ranch!

Probably only gets business because they really are the only game in town. The management is horrible, if it is actually being managed! Very unreliable service, and signing up for anything is a chore--the staff stays on the phone and ignores IN PERSON customers, sometimes even answers the phone IN THE MIDDLE OF A TRANSACTION WITH AN IN PERSON CUSTOMER!!! Not to mention not following the hours they post. We have arrived there to swim and other things, before (even after calling ahead) only to find they are CLOSED when we get there. I can't wait to move so we have a better facility close by for us/the kids!!

I have to agree, the staff at the front desk is terrible. I wanted to sign up, but the lady would'nt get of her cellphone. After 5 min. I turned around and left. Still no membership.. and probably not going to happen.

I am a fan of our YMCA. Some of the personalities on staff could use a boost or two but for the most part, it is a fun and healthy way to spend a few hours. The girls in the childcare center are outstanding! They hold the babies, play with the toddlers and keep the older children in line and active. The gym is always clean with available equipment and the classes work well with working family’s schedules. I have been a member since it opened. I love it there. I will stay a member as long as I am in the area. I know in advance that, things will not always work the way I wish they would. Moreover, that more than one personality of the staff will rub me the wrong way. That is part of life. We are a YMCA family and I love my STRONG KIDS.- Tiffany

I've been disappointed a number of times when arriving at the YMCA intending to participate in a class (whether signed up in advance, or just one of the weekly classes) only to have the teacher not show up! I've even called ahead to be sure -- and arrived only to have to turn around and go home. Lots of good intentions -- I definitely think that done correctly it benefits our community -- but I think more effort needs to go into reliability.

Poor service, the same person at the front desk is rude every day and her customer service is horrible.most of the staff is very nice but if you know that you have an employee with numerous complaints find her a job in the back away from the public.the staff know of the problem and turns a blind eye , instead of handling it.

in response to the last comment: this facility is one of the most caring, organized family oriented places ever. The people that work there treat every member like family. They constantly strive to bring in new activities to better serve the community. There is a wide range of activities and diversity, as the Y serves people of all ages. numerous parents consistently write about what a great experience their kids have. one in particular that i read, states that their child can't stop talking about Tony. I know for a fact that this young man cares so much about those kids that he comes back to the YMCA even though he has found another higher paying job, but the kids keep bringng him back on his days off. He makes it a point to make each child feel special, bringing in birthday cakes and such on their birthdays. and by the way I don't work there.

The Copper Basin YMCA does not provide quality service and does not bother to pretend that it wants to provide it, either. I do not recomend the Copper Basin YMCA or their youth sports programs. The people are unfriendly, rude, and generally not pleasant to deal with. The sports programs were a disaster with low quality leadership and rampant confusion. If you live in the Copper Basin, Johnson Ranch, etc. area, I would like to point out that the 10 or even 20 mile drive to another facility elsewhere would be WORTH every ounce of effort.
