Coronado Beach hosts crowds of families every summer. Located between the Hotel Del and the North Island Naval Air Station, the beach stretches approximately a mile and a half along the shoreline.
This long, flat beach is a favorite with families who arrive early hauling toys, food, and paraphernalia to make a day of it. Volleyball courts are available on the street side of the beach near the lifeguard station - bring your own nets and balls. Kite flying and surfing are allowed in designated areas.
Restrooms are equipped with outdoor showers, and lifeguards are on hand in case of emergency. The lifeguard station has two "surf chairs" with balloon tires that can be easily pushed across the sand. No reservations are necessary.
Leave the alcohol and glass containers at home. Fires in designated fire rings only.
