about Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center:

Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center offers indoor and outdoor swimming pools, an ice-rink for hockey and skating, tennis, a variety of field sports, racquetball, wallyball, specialty classes, a skate park, a nursery and more.

The outdoor pool is the hottest ticket in town during the summer (very crowded). It's a big hit with young children thanks to its very large zero-depth entry (gradual increase in depth) and pool playground; older children enjoy the water slides. Please check the schedule or call the center for more information. There is no charge to members; non-member youth (ages three to 17) and seniors pay $4, adults pay $5. If you have a group of eight or more, you can get a group rate of $3.50 per person if you reserve in advance. The indoor pool has the same pricing.

Over a dozen different swimming classes are offered year-round for children ages three to five. Discounts are available if enrolling more than one child. Private lessons are not scheduled at the center, though arrangements can be made to use the pool for private lessons.

Puck practice, hockey lessons and hockey leagues are all geared to get you as close to the NHL as possible. Puck practice is $5 per player (free for goalies) and is scheduled by age groups. Please check the schedule or call the center for more information.

Hockey lessons are offered year round for children ages five to 16. Basic skating skills are a pre-requisite for these classes. Most equipment is available from the skate rental room free of charge during class time. Students are to provide their own shin guards, elbow pads, and hockey gloves. Classes consist of 10 to 14 children, and the cost is $45 for members and $50 for non-members. A discount is available if enrolling more than one child.

To join a hockey league, please contact the coordinator for the group you are interested in joining.

The year-round ice-skating rink offers open ice-skating, skating lessons and figure skating clubs. Open ice-skating is a very popular weekend outing for all ages. Check the schedule or call the center for more information. There is no charge to members; non-member youth (ages four to 17) and seniors pay $4.50; adults pay $5. Skate rentals are included with the nonmember pricing and for premium members; basic members pay $1.50 for skate rentals. If you have a group of eight or more, you can get a group rate of $4 per person, including skate rentals, with advance reservations.

The Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center follows the US Figure Skating Association's Skate with US program, so your youngster has a better chance of making it to the Olympics! Classes are offered to ages four and up in groups of eight to 12 students. Members pay $45 for six half-hour lessons, or $50 for non-members. A $1 discount is applied if more than one child is enrolled.

Private ice skating lessons can be scheduled at the center's front office. Fill out a private lesson request form. The form is given to the requested coach or is used to match the student up with a coach. For more information about private lessons, call 801.943.3190 ex 162.

The outdoor tennis courts are a great way to spend the cool Salt Lake summer evenings. Please call the main office for lessons or to make a reservation. No charge to members and $2 for non-members to use the courts.

A wonderful selection of field sports are offered here, including baseball, football, lacrosse, and soccer, all at various levels. For more information, contact the coordinator of the sport you are interested in joining.

Racquetball and Wallyball courts can be rented by the hour Mon-Fri 5am-10pm; Sat 6am-9:30pm; and Sun 12n-5pm. Please call for pricing as the cost structure is very complex.

A variety of specialty classes, including Babysitting, Boy Scout Night, Karate, Kindermusik, Lifeguard Training, and more are offered at the center. To sign up for a class, contact the coordinator for class you are interested in joining.

The nursery is open Mon-Thu 8am-8pm and Fri 8am-4pm (closed Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays). Parents must be participating in an activity at the rec center while their children are at the nursery. Cost is $1.50/hour per child for kids ages two to eight, or $2/hour for children under 24 months. No visit may exceed two hours.

During the summer months, children ages nine to 12 can participate in the Summer Kids Club on weekdays from 9am to 1pm. Supervised activities include basketball, crafts, game tables, and board games. Children are welcome to come and go as they please during the Kids Club. The club is free to members.

Many programs are run through Salt Lake County Parks and Recreation, but are held at Cottonwood Heights Recreation Center. These include Afterschool Program, Ski & Snowboard, Indoor Soccer, Jr Jazz Basketball and more. For more information about Salt Lake County Programs, call 801.943.9673.
