The Motor Inn is plain and simple. But we love its location and you will, too, if you want to escape the hustle of Union Square and Fisherman's Wharf. The motel is within walking distance of Fort Mason Cultural Center, the water, and two charming shopping streets, Union and Chestnut. You'll also be near the Golden Gate Bridge, the Exploratorium, and North Beach. And you won't go hungry. The neighboring streets are packed with good restaurants. The hotel itself is one of the best bargains in town. The regular rooms are spacious, but the real finds are the three- and four-room suites with fireplaces and kitchens -perfect for a long family stay. The inn has a two-night minimum stay.
tips:
The motel is on a busy street so be sure to ask for one of the quieter rooms in back.
getting there:
Cross street is Steiner. You get free indoor parking with each room. The hotel recommends taking a shuttle service to and from the airport.
