about Cranbrook Art Museum:
Cranbrook Art Museum's galleries are closed through Spring 2011 during construction. Tours of Saarienen House - Eliel Saarinen's 1930 art deco masterwork - are still available. Tickets can be purchased at the Cranbrook Institute of Science where tours depart from May through October.
tips:
As with most museums, photographs are a no-no at the Cranbrook Art Museum, but bring a camera with you any way and walk around the grounds - even head to the Cranbrook House and Gardens. This is an absolutely beautiful campus with more than a few picture-perfect settings.
getting there:
Located on the west side of Woodward, between Lone Pine and Long Lake Roads. Take the long drive in and, following the signs, turn right to find the museum.

I took my 7 year old daughter to the Andy Warhol exhibit after seeing it promoted in this site. The paintings and screen printings were good. But there is a room with at least 100 polroid pictures. I really didn't think anything of it until we came upon a naked lady. Okay, so my daughter has seen breasts before and will one day have them. But when we got to the naked man only showing his penis, I drew the line. I think that the museum staff should have let me know. It didn't seem like art, and it was very graffic. What a way to ruin an educational day. I'm not a prude either, but I don't like suprises especially for my impressionable daughter.
