Wide open spaces, fresh ingredients, and unique menu items make Crispers a welcome alternative to fast-food restaurants. Don't be put off by the inevitable line when you arrive. It moves quickly, so be ready with your order when you hit the register or face the inevitably groan crowd at the back of the line. Paper menus are available before the chalk board listing of specials and freshly made soups, so pick one up on the way in. Speaking of soups, try the Kickin' Crab Chowder or Vegetarian Vegetable, both delicious in combination with a sandwich or salad in a Pick a Pair. Sandwiches are huge, and the selection is quite varied. The Big BIG Baked Potato is also popular and true to name. Who knew spuds grew this big? Top one with your choice of ingredients including Tex-Mex chicken, smokey chicken, and grilled veggie for a full meal. Kids menu items include fresh fruits, macaroni and cheese, quesadillas, and come on plates with dividers - a welcome sight to moms who hear "But it's touching!" from their offspring. Servers deliver meals, utensils, and napkins to the table, and depending on your order, some items may arrive before others. Notoriusly late - but well worth the extra time - are the flatbreads, a newer and very popular addition to the menu. The atmosphere is casual and suited to kids with music and conversation loud enough to mask any possible whining or begging for a cookie from the dessert counter (but if you do give in, get the nibblers, a selection of small cookies perfect to share). High chairs are available and the restrooms also have wall-attached changing tables. Some locations also offer free wireless Internet service.
