My three sons, 14, 11, and 10, had no problem passing the deep water test, but then again they have taken all of their swimming lessons in that pool. In the past when the youngest couldn't always pass (they make you take it every time you come back just to be sure) I was glad to have him in the shallower sections so I didn't have to worry. I find it hard to believe that you can be upset with people who are looking out for the safety of your child. As for wearing sweatshirts, all of the lifeguards have their suits on underneath and are very quick to move if anything happens. Our season pass is also good at the New Hope pool and we will continue to get it for years to come. We could easily go to one of the other municipalities close by but love the Crystal Cove.

Our family has been to several water parks in MN as well as out of state. This is the first one that children had to pass a deep water test. My oldest grandchild can swim like a fish but because he didn't do it the exact way they wanted him to (he kept his head under water most of the way and came up to breath a couple of times instead of bringing his head to the side every couple of strokes) he was not permitted to go off diving board or slide even though both parents, aunt and grandmother were sitting right there. The other child (after his brother did not pass) did not even want to try and could not even go on the walking rope with animals under it. After an hour they finally asked to leave. Needless to say it was quite a disappointing afternoon and we will look elsewhere in the future. Also, I believe it would be nice if the lifeguards could at least look prepared to go in and not be wearing sweatshirts, jeans, etc. It is a nice, clean waterpark, but it would have been nice if we could have all enjoyed it.
