The
Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad journeys through the
Cuyahoga Valley National Park, chugs along the Cuyahoga River and the historic Ohio & Erie Canalway between Cleveland and Akron, and on to Canton.
Riders can choose from a variety of different excursions and special events available throughout the year.
If you can't get tickets for the
extremely popular Polar Express, don't despair; other holiday-themed trains roll out of the station throughout the holidays.
Older kids appreciate lessons imparted through special Underground Railroad programs that combine a short train ride with activities designed to give a taste of the times. (Underground Railroad programs hosted by
Cuyahoga Valley National Park are usually held in the summer;
CVSR offers more in the fall.)
The train runs through the valley between several boarding sites, including:
Rockside Station (aka "Rockside Depot")
7900 Old Rockside Road
Independence, OH 44131
Akron Northside Station27 Ridge Street
Akron, OH 44308
Peninsula Station 1630 West Mill Street
Peninsula, OH 44264
Canton Lincoln Highway Station 1315 Tuscarawas Street West
Canton, OH 44702
When purchasing tickets for an excursion, be sure you know which station is your destination - and plan to arrive early, as boarding begins up to half an hour before scheduled departure time.
