Dance Prism, founded in 1982, is a classically focused ensemble distinguished both for its treatment of such narrative ballets as The Nutcracker, Alice in Wonderland, and Cinderella and for its original neoclassical works.

Bringing the spectrum of ballet into the communities of New England, Dance Prism is primarily a touring company serving the greater New England area. Dance Prism's Massachusetts touring schedule regularly includes appearances in such venues as Worcester's Mechanics Hall, the Collins Center in Andover, and the Jackson Arts Center at Bristol Community College in Fall River. Audiences of 10,000 people per year see Dance Prism's acclaimed production of The Nutcracker.

During the academic year, the company also provides performances, lecture demonstrations, and workshops for a number of private and public schools throughout the region.

Each autumn, Dance Prism conducts open auditions for its Nutcracker children's cast which performs with the professional company for the season. Over 500 young dancers per year audition for the touring cast and for the regional casts that accompany it in various locations. Selected members of the Nutcracker Touring Cast are also invited to join the company for other productions during the year. Dance Prism is pleased to be able to offer these young dancers the opportunity to develop and perform in a professional environment completely without fees. Many of the Nutcracker children have in fact grown up in the production and have matured from Minidolls and Reindeer to apprentices and company members.
