This blink-and-you'll-miss-it little red shack open from late-May through Labor Day serves up some of
the best-tasting popcorn we've ever had. Walking up to the small ordering window feels like stepping back in time; low prices just add to the effect, since they seem, too, like relics from another era! All the varieties of popcorn are delicious - buttered, herb, cheese, and caramel - but try the unique
sweet and salty chocolate for a real treat.
Dave's also offers large servings of
a wide selection of ice cream, sandwiches, drinks, and hot dogs (a combo with chips and pop costs only $3.25). Pick up snacks for a picnic to take to nearby
Powderhorn Park, or chow down in the parking lot - in your car or at one of the tables - while watching traffic go by in the verging-on-revitalized neighborhood. Either way, families can enjoy a simple pleasure on a summer evening, feeling as though they've stumbled on a little-known city treasure.
Dave's has
no phone so customers can't call to check, but it may be closed during bad weather...or stay open a bit later on beautiful summer nights!
