about DC Circulator:

The DC Circulator links cultural, entertainment, and business destinations within the city's central core, using buses with low floors, big windows, and multiple doors for easy on-and-off service. Currently there are three routes: a Georgetown-Union Station Route, a Convention Center-SW Waterfront Route, and the Smithsonian/National Gallery of Art Loop, going in a circle from 4th to 17th Streets and Constitution to Independence Avenues (or from the National Gallery of Art to the World War II Memorial). Hours of operation for each of the routes are as follows: Convention Center-SW Waterfront Route, 7am-9pm; Georgetown-Union Station Route, 7am-9pm (additional night service from Whitehaven Street to 17th Street, Sun-Thu 9pm–12m, Fri-Sat 9pm–2am); Smithsonian/National Gallery of Art Loop, 10am-4pm. Buses run every 5-10 minutes during these hours. Riders can pay with cash at the front door (exact change only); use a SmarTrip card on the fare machine; use transfers from Metrobus, Metrorail, or between Circulator; or use tickets purchased at fare meters or multi-space parking meters located on the sidewalk near many of the Circulator stops. These machines accept change or credit cards (no dollar bills) and make change.
