About Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead

The 2009 winner for best playground in Nickelodeon' Parents' Picks awards, Deanna Rose Children's Farmstead sits on twelve acres and is home to farm animals, birds of prey, vegetable and flower gardens, a one-room country schoolhouse, an Indian encampment, a mining exhibit, a nature trail, and a fishing pond. Horse drawn wagon rides and pony rides are available in season.

The fishing pond is stocked with hybrid bluegill and catfish and kids can fish on a "catch-and-release" basis. The fee per child is $3 for the use of a cane pole and four worms; extra worms are four for $1. Outside poles are not permitted.

Kids can experience mining by purchasing a bag of "rough" to wash for gem stones. A small bag is $4; a large bag is $6.

Romping opportunities abound in the play barn, which is equipped with an open-air bridge leading to two tube slides. A Tiny Tot playground is open to children six years and under; the Prairie Playground has slides, ramps, sandpits and a water feature.

Birthday parties can be held in one of the party corrals. The $90 birthday package includes two and a half hours in a reserved party corral, a Farmstead T-shirt and souvenir cowpoke hat for the birthday child, and 14 tickets to use for wagon rides, fishing, mining, or pony rides.

Admisson is free, lots to do. Good for the real young ones, stroller friendly, you can use quarters to buy treats for the animals. My two and three year old love it, go almost week when open. Sunday mornings at opening is a great time to beat the crowd. Plenty of shade.
