Delaware Children's Theatre (DCT), founded in 1973, and has become the premiere institution for family entertainment in the Delaware Valley. It aims to enrich the cultural life of children, help young talent find its way to the stage, and provide
affordable quality theatre.
Theatre doors open 30 minutes before curtain time. Seating for
DCT performances is available on a first come, first served basis. The
Theatre asks that only children ages four and up attend regular season shows. Children under four are invited to attend productions in the
Theatre for the Very Young series.
Throughout the year,
DCT offers
introductory theatre arts classes for kids and teens. Basic theatre techniques are taught through drama games, improvisations, monologues, and role-playing based on storytelling and scripts. Appropriate
audition projection and stage geography are developed, and participants are familiarized with stage lighting, make-up, props, and set design.
Summer workshops are also available. More information about
DCT workshops and classes is available by phone or via email to
workshops@dechildrenstheatre.org.
