An extension of the Botanic Gardens, the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield is located near the cottonwood banks of Deer Creek. There are grasslands, ponds, nature trails, display gardens, educational exhibits, a historical farm and one-room schoolhouse, working beehives, and picnic areas.
Kids will particularly enjoy the new Deer Creek Discovery children's area, which features a whimsical tree house (climbing is a-ok!) and a water feature.

getting there:
From C-470, take the Wadsworth exit. Proceed south for 1/2 mile to the stoplight at Deer Creek Canyon Road. Turn right and drive 1/4 mile. The entrance is on the left.
