As you emerge from an entry corridor with views of space, a dramatic Martian canyon lies to your right. To your left, dust and gas swirl in giant nebulae. This is
Space Odyssey, where the universe is yours to explore--and where space news headlines are brought to life. Let knowledgeable Museum Galaxy Guides lead the way as you investigate using hands-on exhibits, live performances, and demonstrations.
In the
Prehistoric Journey exhibit, mysteries of past life come nearly to life. You can witness the evolution of life, from inch-long corals, to an 80-foot-long Diplodocus, to a very famous human ancestor, Lucy.
The
Hall of Life us a unique health science exhibition that teaches kids how the human body works and how to keep it healthy. Take a look at human anatomy, explore genetics, see a baby develop, measure your pulse and blood pressure, or analyze your stress level, all in interactive exhibits that explore your inner universe.
Dioramas include North American Wildlife, Bears & Sea Mammals (think polar bear, and you can more easily make the transition!), Rare Birds, Birds in general, Explore Colorado, and Safari to Wild Africa.
Most junior scientists really go wild for the Mummies. Kids learn what's under the wrapping and follow the story of two ancient women - one rich and one poor.
Weeklong, half-day, and daylong
summer day camps for kids featuring varied themes and activities are also offered. Shorter 90-minute workshops also available for toddlers and their parents. Camps sell out quickly. Advance registration is required. Visit the website for schedule and subjects.
The museum is also host to the
Phipps IMAX Theater and
Gates Planetarium - both have additional admission charges. Current show schedules are available online.
Memberships are available and include free museum admission as well as discounted theater and planetarium admission.
