Deseret Industries is one of our favorite local thrift stores. The non-profit is sponsored by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and provides employment training and opportunities.
The Shoreline store is fairly large and offers used clothing, toys, media, housewares, electronics, and almost anything else you can imagine. Prices tend to be less expensive than other local thrift chains. Most of the store's toys are in the $0.25-$2 price range. The clothing racks are organized by the type of item, but not by size, so it's a more time-consuming process than one encounters at most other local thrift stores.
The store usually has a good selection of used furniture and sells new beds, as well.
The store is very well-staffed and we've never found a long wait at the cash registers, even during busy times. We have at times been frustrated with staff working on the sales floor who are stocking or organizing the shelves. They are sometimes brusque and impolite and seem to view customers as an impediment to their work.
