    about Detroit Institute of Arts:

The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) is among the top fine arts museums in the United States. The DIA's holdings come from all over the world and from ancient to modern times.

See Diego Rivera's Detroit Industry murals, Auguste Rodin's The Thinker, and Vincent van Gogh's Self Portrait, among so many other fine works of art.

On Fridays the DIA is open late and has kid-friendly food and activities for all ages. Every Sunday enjoy Target Family Sundays, with fun performances like live music, puppet shows, and storytellers.

Workshops, classes, and student tours are offered. Cafe DIA serves up soups, salads, and sandwiches, and lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Weekly vegetarian specials are offered.

If you're looking for fine cinema, check out what's playing at the Detroit Film Theatre, housed at the DIA.

    Annual family membership is $110.

    tips:

Before touring the museum with your children, spend a few minutes at the DIA's Artie the Donkey statue to go over the "look but don't touch" rule.

    getting there:

Secure parking is available behind the museum (enter from John R); underground parking is available at Woodward and Farnsworth (enter at the south side of the museum from Farnsworth).
