Dewberry Farm is open to the public in October and November with a whole day's worth of activities available. (Check the website or call for specific dates each year.) The corn maze is the main attraction, with over three miles of pathways in a six-acre corn field. Families can also walk among a 16-acre pumpkin patch to find pumpkins to buy, or just to take seasonal pictures.
Tractor-drawn hay rides take visitors on a tour of the farm, which also has a flower patch with sunflowers and an array of other colorful blossoms for more great photo opportunities. You can even pick a bouquet for $5.
"Little Farmersville" is a separate area designed for kids age seven and under, with a playground, tricycle path with old-fashioned trikes, a hay stack to climb, tractor tires to play on, swings, and other energy-burning activities. A covered seating area allows parents to sit and watch in the playground area.
The farm also has corn cannons, pedal carts, a pumpkin blaster, zip lines, a hay mountain, a barnyard in which kids can feed some of the animals, gemstone mining, and more. Some activities do cost extra, so be prepared to shell out a bit more in cash.
Campfire pits are available for rent. Guests can bring their own food for a cookout or purchase hot dog dinners, which include hot dogs, marshmallows, cookies, chips, and drinks.
The on-site country store carries fresh jams and sauces, scented candles, rugs and quilts, old-fashioned toys, t-shirts and caps, and other items. Food concessions include barbecue, potato salad, beans, frito pies, corn on the cob, sausage on a stick, apple blossoms, snacks, desserts, and drinks. A separate building houses a bakery, which sells homemade pies, cookies, brownies, and "apple enchiladas", which are like slices of apple pie formed in the shape of enchiladas, served warmed-up with a scoop of Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla.
Several covered pavilions provide shaded picnic tables. Restrooms are available in the country store and elsewhere on the grounds.
Tickets can be purchased at the farm or online. Visit the website for further details.
During the season, the farm is also open Mon-Fri for school groups; reservations are required.
The farm has also planted Christmas trees, and families can come on weekends starting the day after Thanksgiving to cut their own - with no admission fee.
