If too much shopping makes you want to climb the walls, a few Dick's Sporting Goods locations can help - and this is one of them. The 42-foot climbing wall is open to adventurous types over 44" tall whenever the store is open for business. A Dick's trained employee fits climbers with a seat harness or a full body harness (for smaller frames) and handles the belay ropes. Participants wearing full body harnesses must wear helmets (optional for climbers in seat harnesses) and all climbers must wear climbing shoes. (Helmets and shoes are provided by Dick's.) A parent or guardian (with proof of power of attorney) must sign for climbers under 18, and must stay with the climber while s/he is on the wall. Frequent shoppers - er, climbers - can use their Dick's "Scorecard" to save $1 -$2 per climb, and a "frequent climber" card allows five climbs for the price of four. Group climbs can be arranged with the store manager. Generally, a group climb consists of fewer than 20 people who have exclusive use of the wall for two hours. The cost for group climbs is $5 per person, and a deposit of $50 is required at least two weeks in advance of a group's scheduled time on the wall.
