about Disney's Port Orleans - Riverside:

Sister resort to Disney's Port Orleans - French Quarter, Port Orleans - Riverside offers an even more relaxed atmosphere and great recreation opportunities.

Formerly known as Dixie Landings Resort, the two properties share a few amenities - all the better if you're staying here, where most of the recreation rentals are located. And though "related," Port Orleans - Riverside is definitely unique in its architectural and room theming.

Authentic looking plantation-style mansion homes house and rustic southern lodge buildings house rooms complete with two double beds, a small refrigerator, television with cable (including the Disney Channel, but not Nickelodeon), hair dryers, coffee pots, and in-room safes. Some rooms also offer trundle beds - inquire when making your reservation. Pak-n-Play Cribs are also available upon request. High Speed Internet Access is available on a pay-per-day basis utilizing an Ethernet port.

There are six pools, primarily because the property is so spread out. The main pool on Ol' Man Island is close to the main check-in and dining areas. It offers a pretty fast - though short - water slide, a kiddie pool, and changing facilities. An arcade is located just over the bridge in the main building.

Boats - including canopy boats, Sea Raycers, and pontoons - may be rented by anyone staying at or visiting the resort. Bicycles - perfect for pedaling down to the French Quarter - are also available to rent by the hour or half hour.

Unique opportunities include the Fishin' Hole, a private pond stocked with catfish, bass, and bluegill, where families can cane pole fish together, and Horse Drawn Carriage Rides around the resort at night.

Full-service breakfast and dinner is served at Boatwright's Dining Hall, located in the main check-in building. The restaurant also offers kosher, vegetarian, and other special menu items. Just down the way from Boatwright's is the Riverside Mill Food Court open from 6am-12m. A selection of breakfast items, fresh made baked goods, pizza, salads, and more are available. This is also one of the locations that sells the potentially money-saving Refillable Mug. Purchase the mug and get free refills for the duration of your stay.

Bus service is provided to all of the theme parks and other Walt Disney World entertainment areas, but be aware that the sheer size of the property means buses can fill up quickly and take some time to get to "your stop." If you're headed to Downtown Disney, you can also take the boat from 11am-11pm.

tips:

Definitely make Priority Seating arrangements if you want to eat at Boatwright's Dining Hall. Seating is limited, and waits can be very long without these reservations.

getting there:
