An LA institution for over 40 years (The Academy Awards were held here until recently), the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is the home of the Los Angeles Opera and Dance at the Music Center.

The Pavilion offers seating for 3,197, and often plays host to kid-friendly events.

tips:

Beginning on July 12, 2010, access points into and out of the Music Center garage are limited due to the start of construction of the new Civic Park, located directly across the street at the County Mall.

Grand Avenue entry into the garage is available via southbound traffic only. There is no northbound access (or left turn) into the garage.

Patrons parked on upper levels are directed to exit onto southbound Grand Avenue, right turn only.

Patrons parked on lower levels are directed to exit onto southbound Hill Street, right turn only.

getting there:

The Music Center is a large two-city-block complex bordered by Temple Street, North Grand Avenue, Second Street, and Hope Street. The Dorothy Chandler Pavilion is at the northwest corner of First Street and Grand Avenue.

Self-Parking is available in the Music Center Garage for $9 at the Grand Avenue entrance. Evening and event rates are available beginning at 4pm for evening performances and 11am for matinees. The garage sometimes fills up on dates when all three theatres at the Music Center are operating.

Evening and weekend parking at $8 is available at the Department of Water and Power, enter on Hope Street. Valet parking is available for $20 at the Music Center's Hope Street entrance.
