The Downtown YMCA Family Center offers programs centered on individual and family development. In addition to the impressive selection of classes, facilities, and services, this branch also houses the the YMCACHIEVERS Family Center, which assists Black, Hispanic, and other youth and teens in preparing for and achieving educational and career goals. The state-of-the-art Wellness Center includes an interactive computerized exercise system, cardiovascular equipment, and free-weight equipment. Group exercise classes, including everything from yoga to youth fitness, spinning, and child development exercise courses are included with membership. Popular youth sports programs, like basketball, volleyball, soccer, and gymnastics, fill up, so contact the center early for availability and schedules. The YMCA has both indoor and outdoor heated swimming pools offering swimming lessons, family swim and the SafeStart infant and toddler drowning prevention program. Dedicated family locker rooms, Parent-Child programs, and a Child Development Center that serves as a during-exercise babysitting service give parents no excuse for missing workout time! Day and summer camps are also available. Resident camp is usually open to children ages seven to 15 years old. Some day camps have programs for chidren as young as three. The All-Y membership offers unlimited access to all 24 of the Central Florida YMCA Family Centers and is charged on a month-to-month basis with no contracts. A one-time membership joiner's fee of $50-$150 is required. Monthly fees range from $39-$88, depending on the type of membership.
