Durham Central Park is a five-acre urban park established in 2001 with an emphasis on the arts. The park showcases art by local artists including statues and sculptures. The area also features a butterfly garden, nature trails, open areas for picnics, a playground, and The Pavilion at Central Park.
The Pavilion is home to the Durham Farmer's Market and is available to rent for private parties. In addition, Preservation Durham conducts free
walking tours that start and end at The Pavilion on the second, third, and fourth Saturdays of the month from April through November. Tours begin at 10am and last one to two hours. No advance registration is required for the tours.
