East Cobb Park features open grass fields, walking trails, stream overlooks, a fenced-in playground with just one entrance/exit, picnic pavilions, an outdoor classroom and an outdoor stage. A large loop walking trail surrounding the playground is 0.33 miles long, and is flat for stroller-walking. Leashed pets are permitted to visit, and clean-up bags are available. Bathrooms are large and well-lit (especially by park standards!) and include a changing table.

Reservations: The large pavilion at the front of the park may be reserved through Cobb County Parks and Recreation. The three smaller pavilions at the rear of the site are available on a first come, first served basis and may not be reserved. If you're planning a summertime party, plan to reserve the big one months in advance, and be prepared to stake out the smaller ones by 6:30am on your chosen date!

If you're planning to reserve a shelter for a party in the summer months, call well in advance. The large pavilion books up quickly!

We took our 1 yr old granddaughter to the park on 4/12/07. We were very impressed with the park and its upkeep. When we return to the USA in the summer we will certainly be bringing her back for more safe fun.

This park is crowded for a good reason - it combines nice scenery, good facilities, and a variety of possible activities. The relatively new bridge to Fullers Park over the Sope Creek tributary opens up those trails, which are in various stages of development and redevelopment and already form a pretty nice network. The playground is nice and well-equipped and the stream draws the children's interest too. The bandstand stage doesn't get much use but is a nice structure. There is plenty of parking in the upper lot - ignore the lower lot if it appears close to full. Bathrooms are more than adequate. Easiest access to/from the west is via the one-lane driveway to the upper lot, west of the main entrance. To leave, just exit this lane, turn right and make a u-turn. This is much easier than trying to cross at the main entrance with GA 120 and East Cobb Park traffic going every which way. If you want to go to a park for people watching and interaction this is the place. If you want to go for solitude with nature find another spot. This park is better for walking than biking (due to the crowds) but the Fullers park side is hillier and less crowded and also has paved drives which, when the ballfields are not being used, are good for kids to bike. When the trails on the Fullers Park side are finished it will be great, but unfortunately, other than the main trail, I imagine bikes will not be allowed there for long. The main part of the park is flood plain and it gets and stays soggy when the weather is wet. The upper portion of the park is largely undeveloped, with one or two trails, but does offer a little peace and quiet. Great park - bring patience when it is crowded.

Good luck trying to get a pavilion. It seems like they are booked six months out! The back ones are ok - smaller - but get there early to stake one out.
