This community center on the Lower East Side provides a variety of programs for children, teens, adults, seniors, and families.
The
Educational Alliance (also known as
The Edgies) is most well-known for its
art school, which holds a plethora of classes for adults, children, and teens.
The Young Artists Program provides
middle and high school students with the opportunity to develop their interest in the visual arts by participating in unique afterschool and Saturday art classes in the
Alliance's professional studios. The price? An extremely reasonable $120/10 sessions.
The
Downtown Parenting Center at the
Educational Alliance provides expert advice, workshops, baby and toddler classes - including a "Playdate Drop-in" - and a nurturing place for parents and expectant parents to connect and get support.
The
Preschool offers families a varied schedule: All day, half day, and extended day classes are available two, three, or five days a week. Early drop off begins at 8am and late pick-up is at 6pm. Half-day students may attend morning only.
The
Alliance also hosts the
New Country Day Camp, a summer program for kids ages five to 11. Children take a bus ride from Tribeca to Staten Island's 75-acre Henry Kaufman Campground and design their own camp program, choosing from five special curricular units: Team Sports; Arts and Crafts; Gymnastics; Theater Workshop; and Camping, Cooking, and Pioneering. Jewish culture, including Hebrew songs, challah baking classes, and a Shabbat celebration each Friday are central to the program.
