about Ella's:

Ella's, on Presidio and California Streets, fills its corner spot with long lines just about every Saturday and Sunday morning. Lunch or dinner any weekday is a more manageable goal. Crayons and paper are provided to help ease wait time for little ones.

The food is family-friendly, and yet upscale. Ella's chicken pot pie, for instance, is no ordinary comfort food. It's light, flavorful, and brimming with fresh vegetables and chicken. You'll also find delicious soups, several good salads, and desserts that aren't too sweet. Even the hotdogs and hamburgers are good.

The menu is small and changes weekly, but you can almost always find something on it for the younger set. For weekend breakfast few kids could resist a sticky bun that lives up to its gooey name, crisp-yet-tender home fries or fluffy buttermilk pancakes with bananas. You can also take home a loaf of the incredible house-baked bread to enjoy later.

tips:

Breakfast is worth the wait, and the lines aren't bad before 9:30am. Takes reservations for parties of eight or more.
