Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park is a nine-acre waterfront park along the East River in Brooklyn, between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges.
The view of Manhattan can't be beat, and families can fly kites and picnic. During the summer months, you'll find open air art shows and other events (see our
calendar for details).
Brooklyn Bridge Park, springing up within the borders of the state park, promises a number of family- and kid-friendly innovations, including tennis courts, playing fields, basketball courts, rolling lawns, nature habitats, safe-water boating areas, and more. Completion is expected in 2012.
The landmark Civil War-Era coffee and tobacco warehouses, which played an integral part in the shipping activities that once dominated the entire Brooklyn waterfront, border the park and serve as entertainment venues.
