There's no better place than the
Exposition Park Rose Garden for some fresh air and a snack between visits to the Exposition Park museums.
Some 16,000 rose bushes fill these seven acres with gorgeous colors and intoxicating scents. The beds are arranged in patterns and sections, and it's a wonderful place for hide-and-seek, and follow-the-leader. A big fountain in the center, and four shaded cupolas with seats and interesting statues complete the geometric design of the garden.
Also housed in
Exposition Park, overlooking the garden, are some of LA's most popular museums: the
California Science Center and
IMAX Theatre; the
Natural History Museum; and the
California African American Museum. The
Mary McLeod Bethune Regional Branch Library is also housed here.
Another feature of the formidable complex is the
Exposition Park Intergenerational Community Center, a non-profit corporation in partnership with the Department of Recreation and Parks that has a child care center and a teen drop-in center as well as 120,000 square feet of program space. The EPICC entrance is at 3980 South Menlo Avenue.
