Fairmount School is located in San Francisco's Glen Park district and draws students from Noe Valley, Bernal Heights, the Mission District, and Bayview/Hunter's Point. Fairmount offers a two-way Spanish immersion program (K-5) focusing on language maintenance and cultural appreciation. It offers English and Spanish speakers the opportunity to acquire a second language. It has two Special Day classes and an inclusion program for students with special needs. It takes pride in its integrated technology and library program, community circling, and visual and performing arts program. Fairmount staff collaborates with the following support services: U.C. Berkeley and Partners in School Innovation. It is a Tribes School and promotes a community team building process that empowers students to solve their problems in appropriate ways. The staff weaves literature and the arts into thematic units of study in areas of students' interest. It offers two after school programs: High Gear, where students receive academic support and tutoring, and Fairmount After School program (FAS) where students receive homework assistance and supervised activities. It also has an on site Pre-K that serves twenty students.
