A membership-based non-profit organization, Families for Home Education (FHE) was started in 1983 by two parents concerned over state legislation that would have eliminated the option of home education for Missouri families. Today, FHE acts as a lobby group to protect the right of parents in Missouri to teach their own children without state regulation and control. Membership in FHE increases lobbying influence and provides Home School Legal Defense Association group discounts.
