About Ferry Plaza Market

Treat your kids to a trip to a farmer's market. You get to stock up on fresh foods and organic produce, and they get to meet some of the people who grow them.

This particular market takes place just outside the newly renovated Ferry Plaza building. Take your time and enjoy the free samples of fresh fruits, homebaked breads, cheeses, and other goodies. You can also buy shellfish straight out of Tomales Bay. Another plus: the market offers educational programs that allow shoppers to meet producers or shop with chefs as a way to learn more about sustainably grown agriculture.

Tips

Incite culinary boldness by inviting your child to pick out a fruit or vegetable he's never tried before. It may be just the spin you need to get him excited about vegetables.

Getting There

Foot of Market Street on the Embarcadero. Special Farmer's Market parking can be found at 75 Howard St (at Steuart) in a 400-stall garage. Cost is $3 all day Saturdays and Sundays.

This Farmers market is a great way to introduce kids to the joys of farming, cooking and eating fresh, local sustainable food. We love to go and pick out things to cook for dinner.
