What is it like to stand on the surface of Mars or go for a ride on a comet? How do rockets work? What does a meteorite feel like? Visitors to
Fiske Planetarium discover the answers to these questions and hundreds more as they participate in star shows, workshops, and labs. Discover the intriguing world of astronomy and space science at the largest planetarium between Chicago and Los Angeles.
Fiske Planetarium, at the University of Colorado at Boulder main campus, offers family shows and public shows nearly every week of the year. Explore hands-on exhibits in Fiske's lobby and with Science on a Sphere, and feel like an astronaut floating above Earth. Lobby admission is always free.
During the summer, family shows are at 10am and 1pm every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. In the fall and spring, family shows are every Saturday afternoon (when there are no CU Football games). Seasonal schedules are available at
www.fiske.colorado.edu or for more info, call 303.492.5002.
Summer camp programs are also offered.
Sommers-Bausch Observatory, also operated by the Astrophysical and Planetary Sciences Department, is adjacent to Fiske and offers
public telescope viewing (weather permitting) on most Friday evenings during the academic year. The
Science Discovery Program, now at a new location in RL-2 (30th and Marine Street), offers many related classes for children throughout the year.
