Florida Aquarium - winner of our 2009 Parents' Picks award for best local tourist spot - is an indoor aquarium that boasts displays of over 10,000 aquatic plants and animals. The most popular, of course, are the shark tank, the leafy sea dragons, the giant octopus, and the river otters.
The aquarium also gives kids a chance to get wet in a 2.2-acre Explore a Shore outdoor aquatic discovery zone, which features a 4-foot water slide, water jet sprays, misters, cargo nets, tunnels, and a 24-foot pirate ship. Be sure to pack a towel, water shoes, and a change of clothes.
The aquarium hosts sleepovers and birthday parties on-site. Check the website for details, and call for reservations.
