When it's time to get back to nature, head 15 miles northwest of the Strip to Floyd Lamb Park, which features several environs: grassy lawns, four ponds, and natural desert areas.
The area was once called Tule Springs and served as a destination for water for Native Americans and valley travelers. In the 1940's, it became a privately owned dude ranch. Guests often stayed during the six-week residency requirement for Nevada's well-known quick divorces. The Tule Springs Ranch Historic Area within the park is now a destination itself, where visitors can view the exteriors of 23 ranch buldings and read plaques about its past.
Today, the park's ponds are perfect for fishing - they're stocked with catfish in summer, rainbow trout in winter - and families can enjoy scenic paths, volleyball pits, horseshoe facilities, and picnic areas with barbeques. Families with birders among their members find ample avian communities to watch here too.
