Fun, funky, and filling adequately describes breakfast/brunch at the Flying Biscuit. Known for the fluffy bread of its name, the restaurant serves up the best biscuits in town (and possibly the Southeast) but also has a great range of tasty, better-for-you menu items, including good choices for vegetarians. Breakfast is served all day, with unique omelets and specialty wraps offered alongside organic oatmeal pancakes or orange-scented french toast. Love cakes (black bean and cornmeal), turkey meatloaf, and that yummy side dish known as pudge (mashed potatoes with sundried tomatoes, basil, and olive oil) are favorites for lunch or dinner. Specials are seasonal, so call or check online to see what's new. While there is a kids' menu, many regular items are a la carte, or available as half-orders, so putting together a kids' meal is pretty effortless. The atmosphere in the Candler Park location is very whimsical and casual - families with kids need not feel stifled. But beware that folks line up to eat here on weekends, so go early in order to avoid a wait.
