The winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find the Best Family-Friendly Restaurant in the Boise area, the Flying Pie Pizzaria makes some seriously good pizza, but they don't take themselves too seriously. The food is good and the atmosphere is all about fun.

And nothing says "fun" like a big ball of foil. The Flying Pie possesses what is quickly becoming the world's largest ball of foil. The foil ball, dubbed Flora, was started in 2005 and now weighs over 200 pounds, well on her way to breaking the world record of 1615 pounds, and meeting her goal of 2000 pounds. Customers are invited to add to Flora's girth by bringing in clean, flat pieces of foil. Foil donations can be made at either Flying Pie location, or with a Flying Pie delivery driver. If there is anything better than good pizza, it's free good pizza, and that's exactly what's up for grabs on It's Your Day, a promotion offering "the chosen ones" an opportunity to come into the kitchen to make their very own 10" pizza pies for free. To have a chance to enter the kitchen, watch for your name (or the names of your loved ones) on the restaurant's website. If you see your name, come by the store between 2pm-4pm or 8pm-10pm on the date indicated. The offer is limited to five people per store, per day. Bring an ID so the Flying Pie folks can verify that that it really is Your Day.

Pizza Party Tours are a great way to celebrate birthdays or other special occasions. Party tours include a tour through the kitchen, pizza-making and eating, bread sticks, bottomless soda, pizza box folding lessons, and a pizza guide to direct the show. Up to 20 pizza-makers can be accommodated per tour time. Tours take place Mon, Wed, Thu, Sat, and Sun at 10am & 2pm, and Tue and Fri at 10am. Reserve at least two weeks in advance.
