about Fort Douglas Military Museum:

The Fort Douglas housed US Army troops from 1862 to 1991. The fort was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1970. Several historic buildings on-site include homes used by officers, a bandstand, the post chapel, the officers' club, infantry barracks, a theater, and the Post Exchange.

The Fort Douglas Military Museum houses displays of guns, military uniforms, tanks, cannons, helicopters, and anti tank guns, covering the history of Utah soldiers from the Civil War to present day. Many artifacts brought home by Utah National Guard soldiers are displayed at the museum.

One of the barracks is said to be haunted by a ghost named Clem. Folks report hearing footsteps and seeing his ghostly image over the years.

tips:

The museum has both indoor and outdoor displays, so dress for the weather.

getting there:

Located just east of the U of U Campus Drive. Look for the Parade Ground with the big flagpole; the museum is the red sandstone building on the south side (with the tanks).
